EpiPen price increases causes turmoil among allergy sufferers

Austin, TX – June 20, 2016 –  Epinephrine pens (commonly referred to as EpiPens) are extremely important for the health of anyone with severe allergies. Recently the main competitor of the EpiPen, Auvi-Q, recalled the products and stopped production last year. Now EpiPens are increasing in price and people are frustrated.

“There’s not a cost war anymore, so they can do what they want with the price,” said Sunny Kallmer, a physician assistant with Texan Allergy & Sinus Center. “And now it’s gone up. It used to be about $400 per EpiPen and they come in a two-pack. Whereas, now, I’m seeing more $500 and $600.”

The final cost of EpiPens will depend a lot on personal insurance and their website has coupons available as well.
